Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about staying safe on PlayStation.

To play online, you need a PlayStation™Network (PSN) account. Once you have an account, you can manage your account settings to personalize your PlayStation experience.

Age rating on PlayStation content

Most PlayStation content is rated by an independent rating body. Learn more about how age rating information can help you decide what content you want to play and (for parents) what content is right for your kids.

Basic PlayStation Safety Rules

We want to offer a fun and inclusive experience to all players. Therefore, everyone who has an account must agree to play by the same rules. Those rules are set out in the PlayStation Network Terms of Service.

When you play online, please follow the Code of Conduct and let us know if others don’t.

We created this shorter version to help younger users, but any gamer can find it useful.

Content Moderation on PSN

Reports of misconduct on PlayStation Network are reviewed by our global team of moderators.

To help us remove inappropriate content from the network, SIE encourages players to submit any content that violates our Code of Conduct. Trained moderators will review each report, remove any offending content, and take action on the violator’s account if a reported player is found to have violated the User Agreement and Terms of Service.

In addition to taking action on a violator’s account, moderators can escalate reports for further review, which may include notifying law enforcement (or other appropriate government agency or authority) if the breach poses a threat to your life or security or that of others or any other activity that we consider illegal.

Suspensions on PSN

Our global team of moderators reviews the reports you submit. Carefully review reports to see if a player has violated the Code of Conduct, and then appropriate action is taken on the account.

For minor offenses, we may issue a warning, but for more serious offenses we may suspend a player’s account and restrict access to PlayStation Network and other online services until the suspension ends.

What can my child do on PlayStation™Network?

Once your child has an account for PlayStation Network (PSN), they will be able to make friends online, play games with other people, chat (text, voice, and video), send content such as photos and screenshots through messages, join online communities dedicated to specific games or topics, and update their “What’s New” feed with posts.

What security tools can I use to manage my child’s experience on PSN?

By setting up your account as a family manager and creating an individual child account for each child with their date of birth, you can tailor their online experience based on their age and maturity level.

Each child’s account includes parental controls that allow you to manage their experience. You can manage different settings, such as what features your child can access, whether they can exchange photos and videos with other users, whether they can shop at PlayStation™Store, and how much they can spend each month.
